Facilities

The Department offers an excellent environment for learning with well furnished classrooms, spacious laboratories with equipments like Microscopes (Dissection, Compound, and Binocular Microscopes), Microtomes, Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Electric Conductivity Bridge, pH.Meter, Hot air oven, Handicam, Bino’cular, Electronic Balance, Single Pan Dona Balance and Centrifuge. Department is also equipped with well maintained museum with common and rare animal specimens. Departmental Library (Dr. B. R. Deshpande’s Library) has good number of books, with Departmental Magazine “Zooin”, books for competitive examination (JAM) for the use of students and staff. OHP, slide and LCD projectors are used for teaching and delivering special lectures to make teaching more impressive and effective. Department has common computer facility with internet for teachers and students to access internet information’s.

• Department has plans to create awareness about poisonous and non-poisonous snakes for rural sectors with the help of forest department.

Placements & Higher Education

The Department of Zoology, holds the student’s placement as one of its primary objectives. The students who have pursued their bachelor’s degree with combination of zoology have been placed in wide realms across the country. Since 2015, more than 50 students have been placed under high cadre in different government and private organizations. The wildlife and its management being an important part of the academic curriculum has assisted the students for getting placed in departments like state and central forestry, animal husbandry, fisheries and aquaculture. Our department being fully equipped with one researchand two laboratories for academic practical along with the highly competent staff ensures that the students are well acquainted with scientific instrumentsand their working thus strengthening their academic and research interest. The training programs and hands on experience that are often arranged almost bimonthly under a holistic approach ensures the placement of the candidate almost instantly after the completion of the course. More than 300 students have been enrolled for their higher education in reputed universities across India, and many of them are pursuing their PhD degree. The graduates from our college are also engaged in teaching profession in various pre-university, degree, post-graduation colleges and even universities across nation.

Jayamma), Sericulture (Smt. G.V. Chavannavar), Environmental biology and Fisheries biology (Shri. R. M. Pattar), Environmental Biology and Molecular Toxicology (Shri. Manjunath G. P.), and Environmental toxicology and fisheries biology (Dr. Kartheek R. M.)
